Stardock.net is a small start-up company that was spun off of Stardock Corporation (formerly Stardock Systems, Inc.) to dedicate itself to becoming the premiere provider of electronic subscription services to internet users, particularly those with high bandwidth connections.

Besides creating the services, Stardock.net also provides the content for these services.  Its first product, Object Desktop is delivered by the Object Desktop Network.  For $49.95 for the first year and $34.95 for subsequent years, users gain access to the components of Object Desktop and everything updated and new that comes out while they are a subscriber.

Stardock.net will shortly be launching the Drengin Network, a second electronic subscription service that targets gamers.

Stardock.net does not limit itself to selling its software only through its subscription service, it will also sell Object Desktop as a stand alone shrink wrapped product called Object Desktop 2000.  It also sells some of the individual components of Object Desktop such as WindowBlinds, IconPackager, and Control Center.

In short, Stardock.net's profit model is in selling subscription services and the content for those services.
